Each school has the privilege to nominate an outstanding junior or senior young lady and an outstanding junior or senior young man to represent their school in the ACEA Outstanding Christian High School Student of the Year program and compete against other nominees for college scholarship money. Each nominee receives a certificate; winners receive a plaque and scholarship money.
Sponsored by the American Association of Christian Schools, this program enables selected students the opportunity to travel to Washington , D.C. for a week of training in the American political system. Interested students must complete an application and write an essay as a part of the selection process. Students have the opportunity to tour our nation’s capital and meet outstanding leaders. All cost is covered, except transportation to Washington , D.C.
Elementary and junior high students are eligible to enter. Topics are assigned and school winners are sent to the ACEA office for judging. State winners are then sent to the AACS office for judging against other state winners. This is an opportunity for students to be challenged in writing skills on thought provoking subjects. Alabama has had national winners in the past. Small and large schools can participate with all students having an equal opportunity to win.
The American Association of Christian Schools has an excellent student leadership training program. Expert presenters following a very well developed curriculum instruct and inspire high school students to become servant leaders. For more information visit the AACS website at www.aacs.org.
This conference is designed to help high school students (grades 9-12) to develop a biblical worldview. Issues including global warming, evolution, America's Christian Heritage, hate crimes, infanticide, euthanasia, and many other similar topics will be addressed. More than 500 persons attended in the fall of 2007. The next conference will in the fall of 2009.
